Born on June 9, 1934 had early education in Rabkavi. Graduated with Honours in Arts 1955 from Willingdon College, Sangli. Studied Law Course at Pune with distinction securing two gold medals and later obtained Master's Degree in Law from the Karnataka University.

After enrolling as an Advocate, practised law in the Trial Courts of Bijapur District from 1959 to 1964 and was selected with high ranking to the post of Munsiff and entered Karnataka Judicial Service on July 7, 1964. Was promoted as Civil Judge in April 1974; as District & Sessions Judge in May 1980. Worked as One-Man Commission of Enquiry into the Police Firing incident at Honnali, Shimoga District in 1985.

Served as Additional Registrar of the High Court from April 1987 and was appointed as Registrar, High Court of Karnataka in the beginning of 1990 till elevation to the Bench of High Court of Karnataka as Judge on 25, October 1990. After a successful career, retired on 9 June, 1996.

Appointed as Member-Secretary of the First National Judicial Pay Commission on 28 August 1996.
